May 18 , 2017

CoI Commissioner, Dr. Hassan Al-Yasiri, asserted that corruption is a phenomenon rejected by all religions, and that it has no link to a religion, race or denomination, but represents its perpetrator, calling for investing the status of religious pulpits and its prestige in the hearts of Iraqis to educate and guide about the risks of this scourge on society.

Al-Yassiri warned - in his speech at the third conference organized by CoIís Office of Relations with NGOs within the 2017 Religious Pulpit Program, in cooperation with the Chaldean Church Headship in Iraq and the world - of the practices that could lead to widespread corruption in state institutions such as inaugurating positions to the non-righteous and incompetent, stressing that adopting the standards of expertise, integrity and efficiency in inaugurating the government positions will inevitably lead to reducing corruption courses and limiting the slip into its traps.

For his part, the Head of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, Patriarch Luis Rafael Sacco, stressed in a speech at the conference - which was attended by a number of MPs, the Head of the Sunni Endowment, Chairman of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the World, representative of the Shiite Endowment, and a gathering of clerics, academics and representatives of civil society organizations - the need to invest the system of education and moderate religious discourse in maintaining respect for the law, resolving the differences, indicating denominators and forgetting the mistakes of the past so as to overcome the challenges, and triumph against the common enemy (ISIS and Corruption), pointing out at the same time the importance of opening up CoI to launch such awareness programs in cooperation with religious institutions for the purpose of disseminating the concepts of integrity.

The head of the Sunni Endowment, Sheikh Abdul Latif Al-Humim and the representative of the Shiite Endowment, Dr. Haider Al-Sahlani, praised the efforts of CoI and its Commissioner, Dr. Al-Yasiri, who seeks to spread the values of integrity, chastity and good conduct, pointing out that the responsibility of thwarting corruption and corruptors as well as the manipulators with public money is a the message of the great and that the responsibility for maintaining public money is, without exception, the responsibility of everyone,.

The conference, held under the framework of the 2017 religious pulpit program included the holding of three conferences in Najaf province in cooperation with the Shiite Endowment, while the second was held in the province of Basra in cooperation with the Office of the Sunni Endowment in addition to this conference, held in cooperation with the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the World is complementary to the first two conferences held within the activities of the program titled (Integrity .. the Essence of Religions).
